Friends of Berrien County Trails

The Friends of Berrien County Trails is working to connect Berrien County with a network of trails (pedestrian, bicycle and waterway) and encourage their use.

Galien River County Park

Composed of upland & wetland habitats, this nature park features a 300' Canopy Walkway that leads to a 60'-high Marsh Overlook Tower and a 600'-long Marsh Boardwalk that leads to River Viewing and Fishing Platform.

Grand Mere State Park

Harbor Shores Nature & Fitness Trail System

The free Harbor Shores Nature & Fitness Trail System offers scenic waterfront hiking, biking and snowshoeing all four seasons in Southwest Michigan.

Hays Park

Enjoy a fun-filled day outdoors at Hays Park in Watervliet! This community park caters to all interests. Hit a homerun on the baseball diamonds, launch your kayak on the Paw Paw River (don't forget to check out the new boat launch across the river!), grind some tricks at the skatepark, or cast a line for your next meal (fishing license required). Pack a picnic and relax under the pavilion, or get your exercise on with a walk or jog along the trails.

Jens Jensen Nature Preserve

The Preserve is named for Jens Jensen, a landscape architect working in the Midwest at the turn of the century. Jensen revered and celebrated the area’s indigenous scenery by creating the Prairie style of landscape architecture and leading a movement to conserve natural areas.

Kal-Haven Trail Sesquicentennial State Park

33 mile trail linking the city of South Haven to the city of Kalamazoo.

Lake Michigan College Nature Trail

The trailhead is by the Athletics Field parking lot and has additional access at the back of Mendel Center Parking Lot A.

Lake Township Park

Lake Township Park is open from April 1 to November 1. Restrooms and pavilions are closed for the off-season but the park is open for disc golf and cross-country skiing (weather permitting). The off-season parking lot is located just north of the main entrance for entry during off-season hours.

Lions Park Beach

Love Creek County Park & Nature Center

Love Creek County Park & Nature Center features over 100 acres of meadows, forests, marshes and creeks.

Margaret B. Upton Arboretum

A 2.3 acres park along the St. Joseph River.

McCoy Creek Trail

The trail features a 70 foot long mural showcasing the history of Buchanan and McCoy Creek, viewable along the section of trail at Smith and Oak street.

Mt. Tabor Trails

ith a little over 3.5 miles of stunning trails looping through the woods and vineyards, you can stretch your legs and venture between Round Barn Estate and Tabor Hill Winery & Restaurant.

North Point County Park

North Point Park, also known as North Point Conservation Area, is about 17 acres of public land situated on the Lake Michigan shore.

Paw Paw River County Park

Berrien County's newest park, the Paw Paw River County Park, is approximately 14 acres of wilderness and peaceful tranquility near downtown Watervliet.

Pilgrim Haven Natural Area

It’s easy to lose track of an afternoon here wandering through the spring wildflowers, exploring the beech-maple forest trails, searching for water critters in Dyckman Creek, or losing yourself in a quest for the perfect rock on the Lake Michigan shoreline.

Redeemed By Grace Disc Golf Course

There's a 9-hole disc golf course named "Redeemed by Grace" on the campus of Grace Lutheran Church in St. Joseph, Michigan. Designed with beginners in mind, the course offers shorter throws and a mix of open areas and wooded fairways. While there are just single tee and basket placements, playing the holes in reverse provides an additional 19 unique challenges. Amenities include artificial turf tee pads and a practice basket.

Southwestern Michigan College’s Roadrunner Trails

The Roadrunner Trails are a popular outdoor recreation destination located in Dowagiac, Michigan, adjacent to Southwestern Michigan College's campus. This network of trails offers a scenic and serene environment for walkers, runners, mountain bikers, and cross-country skiers.

Spirit Springs Sanctuary

Enjoy 2.25 miles of cross-country skiing, fall color, hiking, snowshoeing, spring wildflowers, trail running, wildlife viewing.

St. Paul's Journey Disc Golf Course

The St. Paul's Journey Disc Golf Course is located on campus adjacent to our school. It's a great 9-hole course for beginner-level players like our students, but it's also available for the public to play. Some of the holes are located in our open field while others can be found in the woods for a variety of play.

The Woods Fitness Park

The area's first outdoor workout facility, designed to promote exercise for all levels, from beginners to obstacle race elites.

Van Buren State Park

Van Buren State Park is renowned for its one-mile of sandy, Lake Michigan beach, its high dune formations and campground close to South Haven shops and eateries.

The 14-mile-long Van Buren Trail runs between South Haven and Hartford.
